The myth, the legend Rosalino "Chalino" Sanchez. The heralded "Rey del Corrido" was murdered at the age 31 during the peak of his career. It is said that the night of May 15th, 1992 during his performance in the Verdolagas Ball Room in the city of Culiacan Sinaloa, Chalino was handed a note. He opened it most likely thinking it was from a fan trying to give saludos (a shout out). While reading it his worried reaction was quickly evident but he continued with his show, much to the delight of the sold out crowd. The note turned out to be a death threat and at the end of the night he informed his staff. The next day while riding in his Chevy Suburban truck, Chalino was intercepted by several trucks, forced out of his truck and kidnapped. The next day May 17th at approximately 6:00 am Chalino's body was discovered on the side of the road with two gunshots in the back of the head. The cause and the ones responsible have never been found.
